Jamie Fletcher
Director, Performer, Musician, Composer
Jamie Fletcher is co-Artistic Director of PLaY and a freelance Director, Performer and Musician. He studied Performance and Composition at Leeds College of Music and Drama and Music at Manchester Metropolitan University.
As a solo and collaborative artist Jamie has created a varied body of work for both theatre and public spaces. Highly visual, physically demanding and often taking risks, Jamie’s previous solo shows Do You Have Big Ears? and Dirty Lucre experimented with pushing the limits of a performer’s endurance. He has received commissions and residencies from BAC, Greenroom and hAb arts.
Jamie has toured throughout the UK as a performer and collaborated with number of theatre companies, including Pointed Arrow, whose projects have included Heave, a 105 mile journey pushing a boat round Yorkshire engaging different communities in the mapping of the region’s values.
Jamie is a talented singer and multi-instrumentalist, who has toured extensively across Europe. He has worked as a Musical Director and Session Musician covering a range of styles and genres, including classical, jazz and r’n’b. He has composed music for artists, bands, companies, websites and film. Commissions include researching, composing and producing music for REonline to aid reflection for Key Stage 1 and 2 children.
Jamie has extensive experience teachning and leading music and drama workshops with young people, community groups and emerging artists. Previous organisations he has worked with including C&T Theatre Company, Manchester Metropolitan University, Leeds University, The Carriageworks Theatre, Harrogate Youth Theatre, First Floor at West Yorkshire Playhouse, DARTS (Doncaster Community Arts), Wakefield Cathedral Education Centre and The Refugee Council.
